Learn about Bastrop County GOP recent happenings View this email in your browser Dear Fellow Republicans, In the last four months, I have tried to provide you with great, and informative speakers at our general meetings.  Last month both the meeting and the speaker were cancelled due to Hurricane Harvey, but we are picking up our meetings again this month.  I am really excited to inform you that at our next meeting our guest speaker will be RPTs own RNC National Committeeman, Dr. Robin Armstrong.  Dr. Armstrong is in great demand as a speaker and it is such an honor to having him come to Bastrop County. A little about Dr. Robin Armstrong: Dr. Armstrong was born in Texas City and obtained a degree in microbiology from Texas A & M University.  He then went on to obtain his degree in medicine from The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston.  Having becoming a Christian during his sophomore year at A & M, he has traveled on missionary journeys to both Africa and Nicaragua.  He has worked with inner city and youth ministries at his church.  Dr. Armstrong has served in all aspects of our Texas Republican Party from precinct chair to being elected our National Committeemen and remains a practicing physician. I urge all of you to come hear this most dedicated Christian and conservative Texas Republican.  I promise you will not be disappointed.  And remember, all our speakers come at no cost to us just to be able to visit with you. O’Daniel, former Republican Party of Texas General Counsel and clerk for Justice Clarence Thomas of the U.S. Supreme Court, will be our speaker on Thursday, September 21, 2017. This event is free for members and $5 for non-members. Register now online PATRICK L. O’DANIEL is a partner in the Austin office of the global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright, where he specializes in federal income tax and municipal finance. Mr. O’Daniel received a B.B.A. in Accounting and Honors Business from the University of Texas in 1989 and a J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law in 1992. Mr. O’Daniel was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 1992 and clerked for Judge Will Garwood of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and Justice Clarence Thomas of the U.S. Supreme Court.  From 2010 until 2017, Mr. O’Daniel was the General Counsel for the Republican Party of Texas and for 2012 and 2016 was a National Delegate to the Republican National Convention. In 2017, Mr. O’Daniel was appointed by Governor Abbott to the Texas Board of Criminal Justice and by Senators Cornyn and Cruz to the Federal Judicial Evaluation Committee.
