What is This Election About?
In the Primary and Runoff, the voters of Congressional District 27 chose nominees for the November general election to determine who will take that office come January. Republicans nominated Michael Cloud over other contenders.
But because Congressman Farenthold resigned, the office is currently vacant until January. The Special Election today decides who will hold that office until January. Governor Abbott called the Special Election out of concern that the position should not remain vacant while hurricane recovery efforts are still underway.
The District is strongly Republican, and conventional wisdom says Michael Cloud, although only a Republican nominee at present, will eventually win the general election. It makes sense, therefore, to go support him in the Special Election so he can get started right away. But that requires your vote if you live in the district.
Please carve a little time out of your day to Go VOTE!!!
