Republican Michael Cloud has won the Congressional District 27 special election with 54% of the vote, even with eight other contenders on the ballot. Because he secured more than 50% of the vote, that means no run off will be required.
As a result of his win, he will proceed to take office immediately to fill the vacant office created by Congressman Farenthold's resignation. And as the Republican nominee to fill the next term, too, that means he will already be an incumbent Congressman by the November general election.
Congratulations to Michael Cloud, our newly-elected Congressman for Texas District 27!
